Why would I choose Student Depot again?
Choosing where to live during university is one of those decisions that really affects your everyday life. Especially when you are moving to a new city, you do not know people yet, you are trying to figure out your university and you are basically building your life a little from scratch.
From a student’s perspective, I can say one thing: if I had to choose my place to start again, I would choose Student Depot again. Not only because of the “nice room and good location”, although that matters too. More because this private dormitory gave me something I truly needed at the beginning of university: a base, people, a sense of safety and less stress at the start.
But I do not want to just throw words around, so here are my reasons :)
1. I did not feel lonely at the start
Moving away for university sounds exciting until it hits you that suddenly you are in a new city, at a new university, and basically everything is new. But what scared me the most was not having my old friends by my side and being surrounded by a completely new group of people I did not know at all.
And this is exactly where Student Depot made entering this new world much easier for me. From the beginning, I had the space and opportunity to meet new people. Shared areas, neighbours from my floor, conversations, random encounters and, most importantly, the dormitory Welcome Party meant that I did not have to wait long before I felt that I had someone to reach out to in Warsaw.
Thanks to that, I avoided the most stressful feeling of being alone in a big city. Right from the start, I knew there were people nearby who were at a similar stage and were also trying to figure out this new student life.
2. Safer evening returns to the dormitory together
Let’s be honest: at university, going out in the city does not always end with the classic “back home before bedtime”. Sometimes the plan was only supposed to be for a moment, and then suddenly it is late, dark and time to head back.
Here, one huge advantage of living in a dormitory is that we often go out and come back as a group. When I go somewhere with friends from Student Depot and the evening runs a little longer than planned, I do not have to come back across the city alone. We all return together.
Because of that, I feel so much safer, because everything feels easier in a group — and honestly, no one is going to be brave enough to mess with such a strong squad 😎
3. Meeting friends without logistical gymnastics
Living at Student Depot makes meeting friends so much easier. You do not have to plan everything a week in advance, compare schedules or choose a place “so that everyone has more or less the same distance”.
For us, it often looks very simple. A random evening, someone writes in the group chat: “Hey, are you coming downstairs?” and suddenly, a few minutes later, we are all meeting in the shared spaces.
Sometimes we play foosball, billiards or ping-pong. Sometimes we sit on the sofa and just talk about anything and everything.
Usually it starts with “come on, just for a moment”, and then ends with a few hours of conversations.
The best part is that these meetups do not require any big preparations. At Student Depot, the shared spaces are equally close to everyone. You just leave your room, go downstairs and you are already among your people.
4. A gym in the building, so the “I do not feel like commuting” excuse disappears
Having a gym in the building is one of those things that sound great, but only in practice do you realise how much easier it makes life.
I do not have to buy a separate fitness club membership, plan a commute across half the city or convince myself that “maybe tomorrow, because today it is already too late”. The gym is on site, so you can fit in a workout between classes, studying, work and the rest of the day.
For a student, this saves a huge amount of time, money and energy. Sometimes it is also the best reset after an intense day. I appreciate the gym at Student Depot the most during exam season, because after sitting all day on the famous “four letters”, my body does not completely forget what movement is.
5. A room designed for student needs
My room at Student Depot is genuinely designed with student life in mind. And I say this as someone who, at the beginning, had serious doubts about whether I would fit all my things in there. But it worked out without any problems — even with all my stuff.
The room has cabinets, shelves and storage spaces that are planned in a really practical way. Thanks to that, even if you arrive with more things than common sense originally allowed, you can still make it work.
A student room has to be functional, because it is not just a place to sleep. It is also a space for studying, resting, storing your things, getting ready for classes and everyday life. At Student Depot, you can feel that someone really thought about how students use their rooms day to day.
6. Administration and maintenance staff who actually help
Another reason why I would choose Student Depot again is the helpful people on site. Whenever I have a problem, I go to reception or administration and I know someone will try to help me.
I have never felt like I was left out in the cold. The administration team really tries to solve residents’ everyday matters: from organisational questions to all those small “daily problems” that appear exactly when you need them least.
And if something breaks? I do not have to worry about that on my own either. There is a Student Depot handyman on site, who has already saved me more than once from a minor disaster.
This is a huge difference compared with ordinary room rental, where you often have to message the landlord yourself, look for a specialist or wait who knows how long for a reply. In a private dormitory, support is close, and that really gives you peace of mind.
Student Depot is not just a room. It is everyday life that works
After some time, I can see that the most important thing about Student Depot was not only that I had somewhere to live. What mattered was how this place influenced my student life.
I had my own room and privacy, but also people nearby. I had space to study, but also shared areas for meeting others. I had a gym in the building, support from administration, maintenance staff on site and the feeling that when something happened, I did not have to deal with everything alone.
That is why, if I had to choose a private dormitory again, I would choose Student Depot again. Because it is not just accommodation for students. It is a base that genuinely makes the start, everyday life and living your own way easier.
